      2. Reed Richards dickishness is ideologically interesting because he was created by Kirby & Lee in 1961 to be a JFK style New Frontier hero.pic.twitter.com/bKPICVOVU1

      4. I wouldn't necessarily say it was intentional but reading 1960s Fantastic Four, you do get a sense of how Richards style of technocratic leadership provoked revolt (from women among others!)pic.twitter.com/iIaBwhBjmO

His dickishness is dependent on Sue being written in a certain way. They are a unit. It's almost as if they are satires of 1950s-60s stereotypes.

Worth noting the sexism is largely due to Lee's writing not Kirby's art; if you look at the later, the sexism is greatly diminished. (See eg here, around halfway down the page: http://zak-site.com/Great-American-Novel/ff_Stan_and_Jack_as_writers.html …)

One reason Reed is such a dick is that it’s hard to write geniuses when you’re not one, (sorry, Stan) but easy to write someone who’s arrogant, impatient and doesn’t suffer fools as stereotypical shorthand for hyper-masculinized intelligence.

Further evidence in favor of the FF entering the MCU as time travellers from the 60s who have missed five decades of progress. I can only imagine how Reed would respond to Black Widow or Captain Marvel or Gamora. Hell, make Reed a villain. That worked great in the comics.
