All things considered (and with all good wishes to Gurkiran Kaur Sidhu and Jagmeet Singh) I would prefer a world without public, press-attended, live-tweeted proposals. Such orchestrated events assume “yes.” Which feels really creepy right now.
Sikh engagements are pretty complicated, with a whole set of meetings not just one proposal. From what I can tell, they are fairly along in the process.

Agree, but it's their privacy. They can publicize it if they please. This is hardly the most egregious example.
