      1. Okay, let's step a little outside the Oprah question & consider celebrities in American politics.

      2. As a rule, celebrities (or former celebs) who run tend to be Republicans: Reagan, Schwarzenegger, Sonny Bono, Fred Thompson, Trump. On the Dem side there is ... Al Franken?

      3. In general, I'd say GOP more likely to recruit celebs than Dems, even though Hollywood is supposed to be super-liberal. Why?

      4. Dems are party of government: they believe in administration & wonky solution. GOP, hostile to gov't, prefers non-wonks who share values & work on gut instincts.

          5. So a big hurdle for Oprah will be nature of Dems, who I think are more likely to go with Harris, Gillibrand or Warren.https://newrepublic.com/article/146537/democrats-wont-nominate-oprah-president …

also, for reasons obvious with Trump in office, GOP donors prefer an amateur who won't get in the way of donors' business trying to stay personally popular and will let them run policy for him

Republicans have a greater percentage of authoritarian followers. And the celebrities they like tend to *project* strong male, daddy figures. But Nancy clearly ruled Ronnie and Trump is weak also. He can’t even fire anyone himself.
