1. A few thoughts on Stephen Miller's shaky political standing in White House, which might contextualize his performance on Jake Tapper's show

6. I've been puzzled by these defenses of Miller (that he's policy wonk & a good writer) since he's always seemed like a particularly dim-witted bigot.https://twitter.com/RichLowry/status/949107683633848320 …

7. Over last few days it seemed like every conservative writer of whatever strip (including Never Trumpers) put in a good word for Miller.https://twitter.com/brianbeutler/status/950033400387252224 …

Miller is the smart one, feeding trumps little brain. He understands basic sociological concepts and created a common enemy & scapegoat for under privilaged Americans. They did surveys thru FB. 1. Immigrants 2. Taxes 3. Rich insiders/swamp 4. Hillary

Although Trump was also rich, he wasn't an insider. They played that card carefully. Him saying things like "tax plan isn't going to help me so much or my friends" caused people to buy it. He had no plan for anything.

When Erickson regards someone as being in possession of profound insight I... I guess I just don't take it seriously.

Just goes to show how low the standards for policy analysis is on the right. And this was not always the case. If you go back to the 70s and 80s, whether you agreed or not, conservatives had a lot of serious policy wonks. There was some in the 90s. That stream has run dry.
