If Trump administration ignored Wolff's book, discussion would be on how it's sloppy, unreliable & Wolff's reputation as a fabulist. Instead Trump made it into a zillion-selling must-read

Other big factor is that early stories from book were Bannon-focused. That's clearly a sore spot with Trump.

Bannon was in inner circle at crucial time, clearly knows damaging stuff, is now disgruntled, and is willing to burn all bridges. A dangerous man for Trump

I think he clearly views the book as a betrayal- by Wolff, Bannon, his staff etc. The one think he can’t tolerate is disloyalty

I think it's a mix of: his plan was to fail to become president and have something to gripe about and make him famous. But also, he's too much of a pushover to stick to that plan.

Not counterproductive if more talk about Trump is your prime mover. Every day he must be at the center of the conflagration.
