Instead of trying to further gut public broadcasting, Canadian newspapers should be talking about taxing or breaking up Facebook. But won't for ideological reasons.

One other thing: CBC for all its flaws is a genuinely national institution (unlike Globe & Mail, a Toronto operation with national pretensions).

The CBC serves a lot of remote areas that no other media does. Especially important given withering away of small newspapers.

Alphabet is such an obvious case for a company being broken up. Could be 4-5 companies really.
