I think in the eyes of Podesta etc, some of Sanders' rhetoric about the speeches implied some specific quid pro quo (big-C corruption)

Sander's followers directly & constantly stated Clinton was corrupt, in the primary & the general. Sanders never reined them in.

whether or not hrc was corrupt, many people thought so. it was her responsibility, and not his, to disabuse the public of this impression.
