I keep seeing this Jack Kirby never-too-late-2-B-great thing, and I'm like: you all know Captain America started when he was 23, right?

I know too many talented young cartoonists who think they're over the hill by 25 to describe his career in this way, Joe.

All I'm saying is he's not really a sturdy example for the point that's being made.

What is the point being made, though? I don't think it's "Jack Kirby never made anything of worth before middle age."

The stated point is "it's never too late to be great," which I don't think is applicable to continued success so much as aspiration.

The point, I think, is you can do great work in your 40s. Which makes no sense since Kirby was great pretty much till the end.

Means Kirby was doing great work pretty much till the day he died.
