What usually qualifies to get a client to lose their legal team? Lying to them? Inability to pay? Reputational damage?
-
Lawyers generally can't just quit for an ability to pay. This comes up a lot in Penny ante criminal suits

My understanding is that it is very difficult for a law firm to simply quit representation. It would be an ethical nightmare if they could!

Your understanding is faulty. Lawyers quit and clients separate all the time. Speculation as to why is fun, though!

2ndly, lawyers will only withdraw if (1) client not telling all facts (2) client illegal acts (ie destroying evidence). Avoid disbarment 2/2
