Okay, I'll retract the remark about 99% of political scientists. My point was just that Trump has deep instinctive grasp of polarization.

It is remarkable but most of partisanship is not about policy. A great deal of it is about identity & Trump does identity politics well

True -- and there's good reason to think Trump's policy impact will be limited since think tank & congressional cultures so opposed.
