Malthusian remedies popular because for some people easier to imagine the end of children than the end of capitalism.

I chose to have a child, but still 100% agree with all the good reasons not to have one I was persuaded by in my 20's. #ItsComplicated

Wonder what Malthusian philosophers would say if current advances in science, esp. biotech, had been more than science fiction back then.

I'm not an Ehrlich person at all, but what do you mean by this? Do you honestly think Capitalism is the root of environmental degradation?

If so, I think you should go read about the Aral Sea. Ehrlich's one great idea was that Impact = Population*Affluence*Technology (IPAT).

It is *fundamentally impossible* to "solve" climate change by family planning. We need to stop emitting CO2 long before population effects

There is only a finite amount of carbon resources in the earth's crust anyway, we'll burn through it all before population growth makes diff
