Top 25 film list by @DouthatNYT is solid in terms of Hollywood fare but the @aoscott & @ManohlaDargis list better in terms of global cinema

My big arguments with Douthat's list are Gladiator (mediocre) and Gibson's religious epics (admirably gonzo but not good movies).

Other quibbles: No Country For Old Men is a great movie but not really a great Coen Bros. movie. Serious Man greater, more Coen-y.

But that's only if you think Coen Brothers' comedies are more Coen-y than their more dramatic films.

??? Serious Man, Fargo, Barton Fink, Miller's Crossing, Inside LLewyn Davis are all dramatic films & very Coen-y.
