2. The standard bi-partisan consensus since 1941 is the USA is "the indispensable nation" but, you know, what if it's not?
3. Argument for USA global hegemony: nation is pillar of international order & trade. Without it, return to 1930s chaos. Is that true?
4. Donald Trump's presidency is turning out to be an interesting test of whether USA is "indispensable nation" or not.
5. While Trump's "America First" policy has been thwarted by the adults, in its place we have incoherence.
6. Major voices of USA foreign policy (Trump, Tillerson, McMaster, Haley) constantly contradicting each other. USA has no foreign policy.
7. Because of incoherence of messaging, other nations literally have no idea where USA stands on major issues. A vacuum now exists.
8. So what happens when USA is paralyzed? Will world descend into chaos? Will regional powers emerge? Or maybe nothing much: world is fine.
9. Unlike 1920s/1930s, there's no major ideological division between great power. China, notably, very committed to trade.
