I'm not asking what Beinart thinks. I'm asking what you think. Do you think there is no reason to call Gorka an anti-Semite?

I have nothing to add to Beinart's description. I maintain the view that the idea of surging anti-semitism in the US is overwrought.

Also, since you are citing Beinart as your authority, do you agree with him: that"Trump really is fomenting hate against certain groups"

I think Gorka probably has fascist ties & is awful. But once in a blue moon I actually agree w/Michael. All in all ....

... I don't think surging anti-Semitism in US is a huge problem. Alt-right is a cause for concern. But some of this is just more visibility.

Per the Jeet framework, you must therefore be a Trump apologist and anti-semitism denier. I disavow you!

I agree with Cathy that anti-Semitism as a mass phenomenon isn't surging but that empowerment of alt-right (and Gorka!) is a problem

Oh, that I agree with. But re the mass surge--it is interesting that a good part of the hate-crime spike seems to have been hoaxes

The phone calls to the JCCs, sure. But NY police dept. reports actual hate crimes up & those don't seem mostly to be hoaxes.

Being concerned that Gorka might be anti-semitic is equivalent to being concerned that Ted Bundy once used the n-word.

The concern is that he belongs to Hungarian Nazi groups, which is worrying considering Hungarian politics & Bannon foreign policy

Gorka should b forced to resign but where do you see institutional discrimination vs Jews?

US has ongoing history of backing fascists in E Europe. Gorka comes from that tradition.
