I'm not asking what Beinart thinks. I'm asking what you think. Do you think there is no reason to call Gorka an anti-Semite?

I have nothing to add to Beinart's description. I maintain the view that the idea of surging anti-semitism in the US is overwrought.

Also, since you are citing Beinart as your authority, do you agree with him: that"Trump really is fomenting hate against certain groups"

I think Gorka probably has fascist ties & is awful. But once in a blue moon I actually agree w/Michael. All in all ....

... I don't think surging anti-Semitism in US is a huge problem. Alt-right is a cause for concern. But some of this is just more visibility.

Per the Jeet framework, you must therefore be a Trump apologist and anti-semitism denier. I disavow you!

I agree with Cathy that anti-Semitism as a mass phenomenon isn't surging but that empowerment of alt-right (and Gorka!) is a problem

As a reminder, the statement "anti-Semitism as a mass phenomenon isn't surging" would've been insanely controversial just one month ago.

And once again, I agree that Gorka is "a problem" but not for reasons that principally have anything to do with anti-semitism.

I mean, you all could talk to Hungarian Jews. But what would be the sense in that?

Articles I linked to about Gorka written at start was written by American Jewish writer who lives in Hungary. Does that count?

I meant this particular roundtable. I'm glad you posted the article, but using it as an entry point to debate Michael again...

Gorka belongs to the real and dangerous context of the far-right in Hungary, which includes violent antisemitism.
