Back when I took Econ 101, they explained that the "True Free Market" was an idealized model not applicable to real life. : /

But still, the whole curriculum embeds that in impressionable brains as the base case. It all pivots off that.

Is this how it's commonly taught? When I took intro to econ they definitely covered market failures a fair amount.

Maybe it feels more like "pop econ" than actual "econ 101".
