9. Both-side-ism is a product of 2 party system & mainstream media trying to distinguish itself as objective & non-partisan.
10. In normal politics, both-side-ism makes a lot of sense. You try to quote both sides, given them equal weight, let readers decide.
@HeerJeet @markjgreen disagree. The biggest failure of media was lavishing free airtime to every tweet & hiccup of the man + phone ins
@HeerJeet another problem has been hyperbole on both sides: many (not all) liberals smeared Reagan, Bush, Palin, et al as "fascist."
@HeerJeet when someone much closer to real fascism came along (Trump), it took longer to convince people he was worse than Bush, Palin etc
@HeerJeet of course the right engages in much hyperbole as well: smearing Obama as a Marxist, etc. but liberals should be above that stuff.
@HeerJeet thus I had to waste time convincing liberals that, yes, Trump really was worse than Bush, Rubio, and even Cruz.
@HeerJeet @mehdirhasan @markjgreen comparable looney bin ratio can only be calculated is Trump/Cruz vs Clinton x Sanders The lower = loonier
