      5. "Rich People's Movements" would include John Birch Society, 1970s tax revolt, Tea Party, and (I'd argue) Trump.

      6. There is some overlap in style & rhetoric between right-wing populism and Rich People's Movements but social composition very different.

      7. The right-wing populists do have a mass base & hence aim at some sort of challenge of ruling order, even if socially conservative.

      8. This is true even of the 1920s Klan, which did embrace Herrenvolk democracy & challenged older war boss system in many localities.

      9. "Rich People's Movement" don't really want to challenge social/class hierarchies in systematic way. Just replace one elite with another.

      10. I see Trump as having the same "let's replace incompetent elite with competent elite" agenda as earlier Rich Peoples Movements

      11. Trump's message is: "Current political rulers are losers. I'm not a loser but a winner. I'll make USA great again." No social revolution

      12. Because Trump fits Rich Peoples Movement mould, he's popular with GOP base, which is made up of earlier RPM's like tax revolt & Tea Party

      14. This could change, but so far Trumpism is very top-down, very reality show spectacle, little actual participation from supporters.

      15. The top-down nature of Trumpism feels very different from way Klan, Couglin & Wallace energized supporters to actually do things.
