@HeerJeet If Rumsfeld's goal wasn't to establish democracy, his motivations seem inscrutable. Oil and pliant regimes are easy enough to get. -
@marksholdice As I suggested earlier, he wanted to test out the MRA -- to show what USA army could do against a real foe.

@normative 2 things could both be true: Iraqi democracy very hard (or impossible) to create and also Iraqi democracy was never the goal.
