3. Edmund Wilson was wrong about Kafka, Tolkein, modern poetry, possibly the mystery novel & much less. his errors weren't even productive

4. Pauline Kael's mistakes (on De Palma, etc) were productive in a different way: she wouldn't have been who she was without those quirks.
