Secularlism is the disenchantment of the world. Both science fiction & fantasy, like popular religion, aim at re-enchantment.
@dylanhorrocks I'm thinking here of someone like Cordwainer Smith or Walter Miller or James Blish, all trying to imagine future religion.

@HeerJeet BTW NZ sf author Philip Mann said all serious fantasy is in some way religious & he doesn't write it bc he's not a religious man. -
