Somebody should apply the great theorist of crowd action (Hobsbawm, Rude, Zemon Davis, Thompson) to current wave of global protests.
@StephenHenighan Core idea of earlier literature still has value: crowd action not anarchic "mob" but almost always has logic behind it

@HeerJeet That certainly seems to fit Egypt, and probably also Turkey and Brazil, in spite of diverse agendas that have reared their heads. -
@StephenHenighan Right. Like to see is someone applying same sensitive reading to current protests, looking at rituals & implicit rules
