@DougSaunders There's something to that but I'd also say that women's rights were superficial in USSR (at least post-1927) & eastern bloc.

@HeerJeet They may have been superficial, but because they bore that name, a generation of E. Europeans stayed clear of the concept. -
@DougSaunders Maybe. In my experience Eastern European sexism isn't so ideological well-developed, more a set of gender assumptions.
