Meaning: is it just a different animal than Plastic Man, Supes, etc. b/c grounding in fairy tale & kid lit illo vs. superhero tradition?
@ben_towle @edsizemore relaxed, genial, make-believe-ish, like a kids book. Superman/Batman are power fantasies, CM day-dream. Or am I nuts?

@HeerJeet Hope you didn't take that wrong. Didn't mean any offense w/ the arty comics guys bit, I promise. (*I'm* an "arty comics guy.") -
@ben_towle No, didn't take offense. I do respond more to old comics that prefigure art comics. I just wanted to amplify/clarify argument.

@HeerJeet@ben_towle It's a new way for me to approach the character so I'll need time to think it over. It's an evocative idea. -
@edsizemore@ben_towle Yes, orphan theme is fairy-tale-ish. Also magic wizard, magic word, and maybe also CC Beck's art? - Show replies
