@mattyglesias The feds offered six-eight months. Swartz didn't want to do ANY jail time. So much for civil disobedience.
@ceolaf Prosecutors have discretion. They didn't have to pursue this case (alleged victim JSTOR didn't want to press charges).

@ceolaf It's borderline in that it's hard to see what public interest is furthered by jailing someone for downloading academic articles. - Show replies
