Speaking as an outsider, the interesting anti-liberal writers in the 1980s were the old Catholic reactionaries (Lukacs, Kenner, McLuhan) who were often sharp social critics and the paleo-cons (Francis, Fleming, Gottffried, Rothbard) who had pulse on right-wing opinion.
