I think this goes beyond the impact of third parties. The American right has always tried to dress up its freedom-hating as freedom-loving. Libertarians are no different, just slightly hipper. So when conservatives need a facelift, they claim to be libertarians. It’s cosmetic.

I was not talking about the Libertarian party due to the fact that the previous comment was referring to "libertarians," who are not for enslaving black people. Doubt the Libertarian party is either, but I'll look for it on their platforms.
