This job (mentioned in my previous tweet) had to be done entirely by the Western Left, because it had no interlocutor on the East where the 1990s revolutions of national independence (falsely seen in the West as democratic revolutions) brought nationalistic govts to power.

Yes, but the anti-pact (both pacts) Left was in existence in the 1970s. Then, it gradually disappeared, so much so that the Left is now supporting not only NATO (which may be understood *today* b/c of the current RUS aggression), but also a world NATO that would confront China.

Talk of "RUS aggression" is hyperbolic, at best. US and NATO have been *aggressing" against the Russian Federation (so long as it does not 'comply' a la Yeltsin) ever since Yeltsin left the (supercharged) office of President of the RF.
