If you're interested in the dynamic whereby bohemian artists move from a general anti-capitalism into proto-fascism or fascism, probably good to read about the careers of Ezra Pound, Wyndham Lewis, Julius Evola, Louis-Ferdinand Céline etc. The pattern is familiar.

What's striking about early Lewis like Tarr is how much it aggresses against the subject matter. Like Dylan's "trying to peel the moon and expose it." He wasn't just joking.

What's good to start with if you haven't read anything of Lewis before?

Perhaps start by reading *about* him in Hemingway’s “A Moveable Feast”?

From what little I’ve read of him, and according to the ever-cranky Hemingway of Movable Feast, Lewis seems to have been cosplaying a bohemian, and he was ever-particular about appearances. And the roots of fascism are in the cosplay, the drag of W. Reich’s character armor.

Would definitely read this. Also something about the general pipeline from hippie-woo woo utopianism into suburban reactionary (hopefully it's someone more profound than "bought a house, watches property values")
