Indeed. This has been the problem of a lot of "problem solvers." They have no empathy so they can't figure out the motives/incentives. Without those, they then project what would motivate them and voila, they make it worse, not better.

Parents with guns show up and get kept outside. By the police that refused to enter themselves. They even kept the border patrol out for some time. This isn't even the first time police ignored doctrine of immediate engagement.
