Strange. Would expect she'd still be clinging to print in States. Incidentally, I am told the three-part BBC/PBS adaptation is good. I bought my mom a $3 DVD and she watched it in a day.

Me too, although I'm perhaps in the minority in that a novel about municipal socialism in hinterland England is appealing.
