makes sense - armed guards are easy to get the drop on but takes slightly more planning and skill to do so

Sure, but you only have to get one and the rest will run away.

People who are pro gun like to see guns around because it makes them feel safe. I’m the opposite - and I’ve been to Israel - when I see armed guards, etc I get nervous because I ask myself “why is it so dangerous here that an armed guard is necessary?”

The answer is obviously spending tens of billions on tactical assault teams assigned to every school, outsourced to private paramilitary companies like Blackwater. In fact, put them in every house of worship, hotel, mall, etc, God forbid we’d ever pass gun safety laws.

A little confused on the design of the study. They don't seem to be saying there was a 2.83x _increase_ in deaths between a school before and after they added an armed guard, which might illuminate some causality.
-
They say armed guards are associated with more deaths. This might demonstrate that guards are placed in schools where shootings occur more, or it might demonstrate that guards actively make things worse. The study limitation of missing "nonevents" makes it hard to interpret.
