I've had a lot of inchoate skepticism towards the disinformation industry and this @SamAdlerBell was useful in articulating why I'm so war. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2022/05/the-liberal-obsession-with-disinformation-is-not-helping.html …pic.twitter.com/Ak7A2RIfRN

A lot of the disinformation framework comes out of the Cold War, basically because USSR propaganda would sometimes make good points that USA had a hard time refuting. So that got classified as "disinformation." But you can't so easily apply that framework to domestic disputes.

As in Cold War, there's a murky line between propaganda that is knowingly false (say that CIA invented AIDS) and propaganda that is true but made in bad faith (say that CIA recruited Nazis). Disinformation framework has a hard time distinguishing two.

Sam is right. It is postmodernism a word thar Sam did not use, but it is the now and accepted by lots of people for better or worse this is the present. *Postmodern is a useless word, it is used in the University and the Analyst to try to bracket the why,

but life can only be Analysis-ed so much, life has to be lived. The way is through, one can not return to the past and correct the mistakes like an Angel of History, though trust me it is a big vibe I have. More importantly Sam is right, it is a neurotic repetition and sometimes

Do you think the dissolution of the board is going to stop Trump or any other republican from doing something similar, or worse, if they think it helps their cause? When has the forbearance of democrats ever been reciprocated by republicans?pic.twitter.com/li9K8vUBUc

As one conservative writer put it, “It’s not clear to me that Democrats have fully reckoned with the non-negligible possibility that Donald Trump is in charge of the new Disinformation Governance Board in 2 years.”

Republicans aren’t calling for censorship with the ferocity that Democrats are. Check out the responses to this GOP congressman’s tweet (including my own response). It’s mostly conservatives criticizing him for the implication that the DGB would be cool if not for Jankowicz.https://twitter.com/repdarrellissa/status/1527690354224504832 …

Let's be clear: A primary reason we opposed Biden's disinformation board is because the person he wanted to run it has a history of spreading disinformation.
