There is a weird social phenomenon now where people who are engineers gain tremendous personal wealth and then are treated as experts on vast areas of social life that they have no specialty in and which engineers historically have considered been inept at.

Yes, other STEM subjects are taught differently, much closer to how scientific research (in any field) actually works. Even the way maths is taught and used differs significantly between maths (and theoretical physics) as a subject and engineering.

Instinctively, this is the wrong answer. Engineering is a very demanding education path and the Rightism that emerges there is more than likely a result of the extreme grit that is required to succeed there

What engineering school did you go to? This is nonsense, and backwards. Engineers are practical problem solvers. What they do has to work in the real world, and if someone else comes up with a better solution they get the job. Feet on the ground, not head in the clouds.
