There is a weird social phenomenon now where people who are engineers gain tremendous personal wealth and then are treated as experts on vast areas of social life that they have no specialty in and which engineers historically have considered been inept at.

It's how engineers are trained/educated: in binary system of right answers (rather than introduced into a heurmenuetics of disciplinary engagement as in other disciplines, including the sciences)
