Gotta say, dismantling the capacity of the American state to do anything is a risky geopolitical move in the context of great power competition.

I've seen this a lot and I worry it overstates the DOD's capacity to operate outside of certain known parameters. But I do think it's likely that domestic initiatives will increasingly take on an overt national security nature. Already seeing that in energy policy.
