I'm sure Bezos couldn't afford the legal fees to save his media outlet's rep. Can you name other media organizations that have settled similar cases for defamation?

You settle to avoid things coming out in trial that you don't want to come out. And you don't settle for peanuts in such a case.

Who do you think demanded the settlement be kept a secret? Sandemann?

And you know who demanded the settlement be undisclosed and you know why. Yet you persist.

How do I know that? It's like saying you know how much the settlement was for.

Okay, I'll spell it out for you. A major news organization wouldn't pay a pittance to keep its opponent from taking it to trial, and producing incriminating evidence impeaching is credibility, because the opponent wouldn't take a pittance.
-
And when that news organization is owned by Jeff Bezos, it certainly would have gone to trial to rescue its reputation. He doesn't care about legal fees, obviously. Pretty sure he could have matched Sandemann's legal fees.

"How the world works" is typical of your condescension, which you use when you don't have a legit argumemt. It's laughable you think the way the world works is WaPo would settle this "nuisance" story for a pittance. You must have no idea how the American legal system works.

As an editor and writer I've dealt with libel lawyers advising on publications both in Canada and the USA. I have some first hand understanding of how this stuff goes down.
