Would be curious if the Neera bots are going to go along with this or it'll cause a short circuit in the motivated reasoning program.https://twitter.com/EoinHiggins_/status/1523783786252894209 …

A very large number of people. The entire GOP.
Triage doesn't mean condemning people to death, it means saving as many lives as we can.
I mean this assumes that conservatives are acting in good faith.
Most politically "moderate" positions are morally bankrupt.
Democrats inability to combat awful Republican messaging is so bad on this. R’s constantly talk about late term abortion as if it’s just irresponsible mothers casually changing their mind at the last minute, rather than some of the hardest situations anybody would have to endure
I think the claim also fails on the merits of the makeup of congress. The popularity of the position is irrelevant. GOP legislators have little incentive to support this and they have multiple outlets to blunt the message that this is a median stance.
To be fair I don’t think that is Matt’s position. I think he says that Dems should just say they are just against *elective* 3rd trimester as that would be the popularist approach
Why pretend that any 3rd trimester abortions are elective? Like women are doing this for the fun of it? That just feeds into ghastly misogyny that undergrids all this.
I think the good faith response is “of course there should be a health of the mother exception for later” But then you have to draw the line somewhere and you’re forcing women to prove they fit that criteria during a time that’s already hard and painful for them
Even if you think elective abortion at (say) 6 months is monstrous, doesn’t it make more sense to trust women are doing it for “the right” reasons and understand you’re occasionally wrong, rather than forcing all of them to prove they aren’t doing the monstrous thing?
