They don't have a shot now. They might have a shot if they had 53 or 54 Senate seats (enough to override a veto and lose Manchin, Casey & perhaps others). They should run on trying to get those seats.https://twitter.com/NoahShachtman/status/1522392558244093952 …

Wait a minute. Dems think they have a shot at passing a bipartisan bill that codifies Roe. But they don't want to bring it up for a vote?! https://www.politico.com/newsletters/politico-nightly/2022/05/05/the-bipartisan-abortion-bill-dismissed-by-dems-00030346?nname=politico-nightly&nid=00000170-c000-da87-af78-e185fa700000&nrid=0000014e-f100-dd93-ad7f-f905c62a0000&nlid=2670445 …

Roe is popular & people don't like to see rights being taken away. Democrats should run in Senate and House on promise to codify Roe. What's the argument against it (especially since they can't deliver other promises).

Why not bring it to a vote and then use it against them all (GOP and Manchin, et al)?

Not putting things to a vote because we can’t win allows those who don’t follow closely to think Dems just aren’t trying.

If the Dems manage to hold Congress and add more senate seats they should make the women’s health act HR1. Voting rights should be HR2.https://twitter.com/HeerJeet/status/1522395900550815751 …

(The perception that) they already should've done it I've seen so much messaging from the chattering class ignorant to the actual logistics of codifying Roe. Promising to do something "already within your power" is a weak sell.

I mean I don’t disagree abt the politics from 30k feet I guess—probably their best option— but at this point a bunch of us just don’t believe them anyway so not sure it’s gonna do as much good for them as you think

I understand the frustration but an honest q: you don’t believe them, so…you don’t vote D, then? Am I understanding that correctly? So then more Rs win, and do more bad stuff, and then you get more angry, and then you don’t vote again, so more Rs win…how do you expect change?

Who’s gonna believe them? Try and codify now to prove they mean business, aren’t making cynical promises they’ll renege on. If it fails try again. If if succeeds but codification doesn’t deliver…gotta try various things to find what works.
