A writer friend recently complaining about how he donated his papers to Yale and now the librarians can't locate some of his most prized possessions, including tapes of an interview with Sontag and correspondence with Guy Davenport. Yikes.

That is infuriating. University libraries receive tons of donations - but there are also *unique* donations that are clearly meant to be used immediately (or at least, found), especially from emeriti faculty and scholars and noteworthy collectors. Very frustrating.
