Corporate personhood isn't a "right" but a legal mechanism that recognizes and permits group action. It is a concept that goes back to ancient Roman Law. Not being murdered is a right intrinsic to any decent concept of human nature.

"Murder" is defined as the unlawful taking of a life, so all you're saying is you have a right not to have people do illegal things to you. Any functional society recognizes that not all taking of life is murder, and there's plenty of room to debate where that line is.

This is why it’s comical to argue over the “qualifications” of judicial nominees. The job isn’t to have a considered legal opinion, it’s to rubber stamp your side’s cases. Being able to do it with a plausible veneer of legal justification is a minor bonus but not a requirement.

This might have to do with the fact that the framework of “rights” is deeply flawed. Rights don’t exist at all, it’s easy to deny them because of this.
