Tbf they really do care about maintaining the legitimacy of countermajoritarian institutions. Anything that exposes or delegitimizes the court is a threat to their power.

I don't think they're this coordinated, but at this point it almost seems like it's more likely to have been a conservative who leaked it because they knew it would give the right something absurd to bitch about.
