How is a lay-observer supposed to discern that the US military is being “super-competent and capable”, anyhow? The US is not directly involved in the war theatre, much of US involvement is background & secretive, and the war has only gone on so far a bit more than 60 days

People keep making a point that it is “confusing” or “striking” how much more successful the US-trained/supported Ukrainians are being than the US-trained/supported ANSF, forgetting that we were actually the Russians in the Afghanistan scenario.

And instead we’re getting a lot of vaguely racist claims about the superior moral fiber of the Ukrainian people compared to the Afghan people.
