I am generally strongly disposed toward "the kids are all right" rather than generational panic, but I've been given pause by both a thread on here revealing some really bizarre and disturbing judgments about sex and then the failure to appreciate Steve Martin's King Tut.

The clip literally cut off Martin's intro, which is the whole set-up to the joke.

Like, the point where I always laugh is when it goes from Martin's smarmy/earnest "maybe we can all learn something from this" to the music kicking in and him starting the dance.

Share concern. We need studies! Grants! Treatment group shown doc on Tut hysteria. Control group no. Then they assess Martin funniness. Big implications for relevance of context. I’d say Tut thing is moderately funny even no context. But I’m codger.
