More seriously, a focused book on romance comics might be good. An under-examined genre. Quite manageable if you focus on a few select artists/titles: say, Simon/Kirby, Matt Baker, etc.
Oh, I am *absolutely* thinking about that--though the '60s-'70s period where they're trying, very awkwardly, to deal with cultural shifts is my real fave. (Also wondering who controls the image rights to Charlton's stuff these days!)
Kirby's various wild and failed experiments in this vein -- Soul Love and True-Life Divorce -- would fit in well. Trying to do something really new.
