Centrists blame left “overreach” for the far right. Many leftists blame centrist accommodationism. The fascists say it’s because they’re popular. What if in this singular limited instance, the fascists are correct? 1/

Yes but I don’t think the key external factors are the particular current politics of factions that barely grasp the passions of contemporary fascists. Nor longterm; neoliberalism, contra some analyses, doesn’t inevitably lead to fascism. I suspect it could have also broken left.
