Is there any literary theory stuff about why being forced to care about someone's bad poetry feels so hostile and demeaning? There's a real contrast to other art forms (like bad painting) where the general consensus is that it's humanizing and fun.

I guess in this case I would say poetry that is either sloppy (imitates but fails to follow the conventions of a given form) cloying, or both.
