The broad reality is that liberalism remains hegemonic in the West (Putin's adventurism has only strengthened that hegemony) but also clearly not capable of handling the major challenges of the time. The resulting frustrations creates room for contrarian writers to make a living

On the contrary, that's the perfect mix for a far-right magazine seeking to foment far-right politics. The more people unite around loathing of liberalism, the more they will support any force, no matter how radical or deranged, that promises to take it down.
That's the strategy, yes. Not sure it'll work because at some point you need a viable alternative to liberalism.
