This is alarmingly more extreme than the rhetoric USA used in Cold War (where it was often emphasized that an unfree people aren't responsible for their rulers' decisions) or the European theatre of World War II (the same). It's coming from a mainstream foreign policy group.https://twitter.com/NotJustPutin/status/1504798993913720832 …

Jeet Heer Retweeted Not Just Putin
To be clear, a think tank that is historically been an influence on NATO policy, wants to frame this as a war not just against Putin & the oligarchs but against "tens of millions of Russians"https://twitter.com/NotJustPutin/status/1504798993913720832 …
Jeet Heer added,
Not Just Putin @NotJustPutin“It's tempting to infantilize the Russian public... The chilling truth is that tens of millions of Russians readily accept the Orwellian lies ... & share the sentiments expressed by the country’s pro-war cheerleaders,”#NotJustPutin#StopRussianAgression https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainealert/not-just-putin-most-russians-support-the-war-in-ukraine/ …11 replies 21 retweets 85 likesShow this thread -
Replying to @HeerJeet @chipsandgist
But most Russians *are* in favour of the war. The question is what to do about that, if anything.

Because poll after poll done in Russia shows this. On top of the anecdotal evidence. Those protesting are the minority. You can say 'it doesn't matter', but denial is not an option. Actually it is. That's what got us here.
