Can't see the initial tweet but Colombia has been NATO partners for at least 5 years now, though

I'm pretty sure you know that NATO isn't interested in attacking Russia. I'm pretty sure Putin knows that as well. We've seen how defeated powers try to regain their glory. That's how the last world war happened.

I’m not sure I understand, why would bordering NATO be a security concern. Bordering China is a security concern because they are always claiming territory beyond their borders. Bordering Pakistan is a security concern because they use other countries as a relief valve to (1/2)
-
(2/2) appease internal turmoil.

Why would a mutual defense pact on their borders be a security concern?
-
I know right? How could it be a problem for the Soviet Union to put nuclear missiles in Cuba? It's merely for mutual defence after all, Cuba's hardly about to invade so what's the problem? NATO was formed specifically against Russia and it still is that.

Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, Mexico, Iran, Iraq, Syria, etc. all border NATO and don't get bent out of shape about it expanding either. NATO expansion is not a threat to anyone rational. Russia's leadership may not be rational but that doesn't mean they have a point.

Doubtful. None of those countries are irredentist frustrated former superpowers who desperately want to dominate their neighbors.
